Terms of Use

These are the rules for using CharlotteGigs, run by Brandon Noyes ("we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to them.

What CharlotteGigs is (and isn't)

We provide a place to post gigs and apply to them. The person who posts a gig and the person who takes it make their own arrangements: pay, schedule, taxes, insurance, licenses and safety.
We are not an employer, staffing agency or party to any agreement between posters and workers. We don't guarantee that any gig is real, safe, legal or paid, or that any applicant is qualified.
We don't run background checks. Meet in safe places and trust your instincts.

Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old. You're responsible for your account and anything posted from it. Keep your email or phone number up to date, since that's how you sign in.

Posting gigs

When you post a gig, you agree that:

It's a real opportunity for work in or near Charlotte County, and the details are accurate.
The pay you list is what you intend to pay, and you'll follow applicable wage and tax laws.
It doesn't discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or any other protected characteristic.
You won't charge applicants any fee, or ask for money, gift cards, bank details or other sensitive financial information.
It isn't a multi-level marketing scheme, a "work from home" pay promise, check-cashing or reshipping scheme, or anything illegal, adult or unsafe.
You give us permission to display your gig on CharlotteGigs and in search results (such as Google for Jobs) while it's live.

Gigs are free to post and stay up for 30 days unless you take them down or mark them filled sooner.

Applying to gigs

When you apply, the poster receives your name, your message, and the email and/or phone number on your account, so they can contact you.
Be honest about your experience and availability.
Never pay anyone to apply or get hired. If a poster asks for money, report it with the "Report this gig" link on the gig's page.

Business pages

Anyone offering a service can make a free business page, registered business or not. When you make one, you agree that:

It's about you or a business you own or run, and everything on it (name, services, photos, contact details) is true and yours to share.
Photos are of your own work, or ones you have the right to use, and don't show anything offensive or anyone's private information.
You won't claim licenses, insurance or credentials you don't have, or pretend to be another person or business.
You give us permission to show your page and its photos on CharlotteGigs, in emails we send about your applications, and in search results (such as Google) while it's up.

A business page is not a check or endorsement by us. We don't verify licenses or insurance, so ask to see them before you hire. The "Licensed" and "Insured" badges are the business's own word; a licensed business shows its license number so you can look it up. If we find a badge isn't true, we can remove it, and the business can't add it back.

Hiring, reviews and ratings

When a poster marks you hired, the poster can rate your work with 1 to 5 stars and an optional written review. The same goes for a neighbor who asked your business for a quote through CharlotteGigs and tells us they hired you. The stars count toward your Work Score; the words show on your business page. You can post one public reply to each review.
A business can share its review link with past customers, or ask us to email them an invite. Those reviews show among the business's verified reviews, with their own average, and don't count toward the Work Score. Only invite people you've actually worked for, and only review a business you've actually hired. Each email can review a business once (and change that review later).
When you're hired, you can rate the poster with 1 to 5 stars. Only an average (the Poster Score) is shown, once a poster has at least 3 ratings.
Reviews and ratings must be honest and about the actual job. Don't offer or accept anything in return for a review, review yourself, or share anyone's private information in a review or reply.
Anyone can report a written review. We may remove reviews or ratings that break these rules, but we don't check whether reviews are accurate or take sides in disputes.

Things you can't do

Post false, misleading, spammy or duplicate gigs, business pages or reviews.
Harass, threaten or scam anyone you meet through the site.
Use other people's contact details, or collect users' information for other purposes.
Try to break, overload or get around the site's security or limits.

We may review, hold, edit or remove any gig or business page, and suspend or close any account, if we believe it breaks these rules or puts people at risk. We may do this without notice.

Text messages

If you give us your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from CharlotteGigs: sign-in codes and updates about your gigs and applications. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help, or email brandon@charlottegigs.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your number.

No warranties

CharlotteGigs is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't promise the site will always be available or error-free, or that you'll find work or workers through it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for anything that happens between posters and workers, including unpaid work, injuries, property damage or disputes, or for any indirect or consequential losses from using the site. If we are found liable for anything, our total liability is limited to $100.

Florida law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Charlotte County, Florida.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If we make important changes, we'll update the date below and let account holders know. Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms. Questions or reports? Email brandon@charlottegigs.com.
