Privacy Policy

CharlotteGigs is a local gig board for Charlotte County, Florida, run by Brandon Noyes. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why, and who can see it.

What we collect

  • Your email address or phone number, to send you sign-in codes, keep you signed in, and send updates about your gigs and applications.
  • Your name, which you give us when you post a gig or apply to one.
  • What you post: gig details (title, description, pay, town, category) and an optional business name.
  • Your applications: the gigs you apply to and the messages you send.
  • Reports you send about a gig: the reason and any details you add, plus your account if you're signed in. Only our moderators see reports; the poster never learns who reported their gig.
  • Files you attach to an application, such as a resume or a photo of your business card. We remove hidden information from photos, like the location where they were taken.
  • Basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, used to keep the site secure and to limit abuse (for example, how often sign-in codes can be requested).
  • Visit statistics, such as which pages are viewed, which site linked you here, and your browser, device type and approximate location (country and region). These are counted anonymously; see "Visitor statistics" below.

We don't ask for your address, date of birth, Social Security number or payment details.

Who can see what

  • Everyone can see gigs that are live on the board, including the poster's business name, or first name and last initial, or "Private" if the poster chose to hide their name.
  • The poster of a gig you apply to sees your name, your message, and the email and/or phone number on your account, plus any files you attached, so they can contact you directly. Attachments are private: only that poster can open them.
  • Service providers who help us run the site and only use your information to do that job:
    • Twilio, to send text messages and sign-in codes
    • Postmark (ActiveCampaign) and Resend, to send email
    • Hetzner, which hosts our servers and database in the United States
    • Cloudflare, which stores files attached to applications
  • Legal requests: we may share information if required by law, or to protect people from fraud or harm.

Text messages

If you give us your phone number, we text you sign-in codes and updates about your gigs and applications (for example, when someone applies to your gig). Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts, or HELP for help.

We do not share your mobile phone number or text-messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with the service providers listed above to deliver our own messages, and with a poster when you apply to their gig.

Cookies and browser storage

We use one cookie to keep you signed in, and one to remember whether you like the grid or list view of the board. When you're writing a gig, your progress is saved in your own browser (not on our servers) so you don't lose it; it's deleted once the gig is posted. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Visitor statistics

To see how many people use the site and which pages help them, we count visits with Umami, a statistics tool we run on our own server. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't follow you to other websites, and doesn't build a profile of you. It records totals like page views, the site that linked you here, browser and device type, and approximate location (country and region). Your IP address is used to work out the location but isn't stored. These statistics aren't shared with anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and gigs while your account is open. Expired and filled gigs stay visible to you (not the public) so you can see your history. Applications stay with the gig they were sent to. Files attached to an application are deleted 90 days after the gig's listing period ends. If you delete your account, we delete your information within 30 days, except where we need to keep something to prevent fraud or meet a legal requirement.

Your choices

  • You can remove any gig you posted.
  • You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP.
  • You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information by emailing brandon@charlottegigs.com.

Age

CharlotteGigs is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you think a minor has given us information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

Sign-in uses one-time codes, so there are no passwords to steal. Connections to the site are encrypted, and access to our systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes and contact
